Erotic Padawan
I’m currently sipping coffee in my tiny coastal apartment, planning a trip to New Mexico and late April.
Although the dry air will be welcome reprieve from the condensation dripping down my walls, and the landscape is unarguably breathtaking (Georgia O’Keefe had good taste), the desert ecosystem is not my primary motivator.
No!
✨Friends I have such exciting news✨
I’ll be attending the Body Electric’s weeklong intensive on Sacred Intimacy!
As my first formal training in the use of Eros and somatic techniques as healing modalities, this will be a huge step towards my career goals as an erotic professional.
…Which sounds much fancier than ‘I’ll be a better sex worker,’ but tomato tomato.
Kink is incredibly cathartic for me. I was drawn towards sex work to offer this catharsis to others, but as my practice has expanded I’ve come to realize not everyone needs the shit kicked out of them to feel good in their body.
On top of that, the people that DO need the shit kicked out of them usually aren’t interested in pausing to ask: “Wait a second, why does having my balls crushed by a young femme improve my mental health??”
This is something I’ve been struggling with recently.
I crave depth work. I want to inspire self reflection and excise shame at its roots. Professional fulfillment for me is setting a partner free from a burden they might not have known they were carrying at the beginning of a session.
If I want to work with sexuality as a healer, that is the service I need to offer.
I’ve certainly been trying. I recently gave my website a makeover (constructive criticism is always appreciated) and have been encouraged by the feedback I’m getting from clients.
But there’s still a mismatch between the energy and expectations prospective partners approach me with, and the experience I want to offer.
I’m hopeful this workshop will help me build the skills and community I need to offer the healing sessions that inspire me. I’m learning more with every partner… but a little guidance never hurts.
This truly is a practice.
And I’m beyond excited to continue learning!
